I went to the AA place in Frankton after breakfast to start my license overseas conversion. I reached only to find that I’ve forgotten my passport. Fortunately, I was assigned am appointment 2 hours from then, in which I went back home and got my passport, and went to KiwiBank Frankton to get my EFTPOS card. Here everyone applies a 2% surcharge on Visa debit cards for IRL transactions, so most use EFTPOS for that. Debit cards are mostly meant for online transaction here. After that I got a $33 mouthguard from doctor shock gel max from Rebel Sports. I went to The Warehouse (yes, that’s a brand, like DMart) to get sewing kit. Immediate confusion. I called my mom and grandma, but they did not pick up. I assumed they were sleeping. I heard Gujarati behind me. I asked if they were Indian, and they said yes, and I asked them to make my purchasing decision. They said to buy the small BS kit, I asked if those thin needles would break. On further thought, I was asked to buy threads and needles separately, for more quality, and that is all I need really. I will sew my MTB shorts and gloves tomorrow. I reached back home late, so rescheduled neck brace stuff for later in the day which I got late for, again.
I cooked, ate and did garbage stuff together. Time saving 100.
But my fridge was a mess, and after cleaning it for 30 mins, I decided to finish it after my ride. I gave the Neck Brace back to the owner, did one run of Wynyard DH, during which I made so many mistakes, and rode so shit. I thought about giving up because I’m so far behind. And then I thought ‘and do what?’. I reminded myself to shut the fuck and accumulate volume. I was thinking about this on the climb to the trail:
How long did you chase Roof?
4 years.
How long you’ve been riding in QT?
2 months.
Is this how easily you give up? You can chase her for half a decade, but not your purpose for even half that time?
And that was the end of that.
I went to my friend to collect the neck brace, where I got lost for a bit, and showed up late again, but he was cool with it. He gave my the neck brace. More importantly: When I came near his house, He was standing near the door. “Cool garage” I thought.
Upon entering, I realised its his house. And few lights were on. It was small. Messy. His bike room was a mess as well, but his bikes were by far the most expensive things he owned. But his living arrangement was shit. There was little space, all of his house was filled. He was living with his SO. It was small. Cramped. Dull. Monochrome. Sofas and prams take up all of the hall. 3 bikes and accessories take up all of the storage. It felt hollow as I stood on the flooring.
That showed my what my state would be if I did not send it. If I did not give it my all. If I do not sacrifice everything. Becuase the current vehicle I am in, a employee at a tourist organisation, not much leverage. Shit pay, in the grand scheme of things, if I am not a bachelor. Actually, even as a bachelor.
That visual is so powerful because I thought of meeting my woman 10 years down the line. Inviting her into this house. The shame.
“What about going pro?”
“I stopped.”
“Why?”
…
“It was too difficult.”
Fuck that bro.
I always thought that it does not take much to satisfy me, that I am not a materialist. I now realise that is because my bar for materialism is high. I was brought up in a bungalow, in Mumbai. I had a backyard AND a porch, in a city where the lack of balconies is memed. I am materialistic. I am just okay not having stuff while on the climb up. But if I am old enough to have a wife, a kids? You best believe they well have the best things and comforts so 100% can go into their purpose. I have always thought of 30, 40 year old Ilyaas as rich. Never poor.
This gave me something to run away from, as Jordan Peterson would say. An anti-vision as Dan Koe would say.
That if I do not suck myself dry, that is where I’ll end up. That if I do not revere the pain, that is where I’ll be. That if I run from discomfort, I will murdered into mediocrity. By my own self.
It is similar to my dating scene - not now, I am on the climb up. But when I have climbed, when I have leverage, my ideal iteration of me, has his wife, that is part of his unit. Not having that now is A-OK. I don’t have space for that, but eventually, I will.
It is so powerful because that dull version of a house was never in my imagination. Even the slums in India, the chawls were brightly lit and coloured.
I thought about this the whole way up the climb, and it why I did not stop at 1 run, despite a lot of climbing to both deliver and pickup neck braces.
This was my story worthy moment from today.
The second run was much better. It gave me confidence. “This is just a volume game.” I told myself. This was also a story worthy moment.
After coming back, I saw my Strava time and realised that I had shaved a whole minute off my 5:41 run yesterday.
It is now 4:51 I believe. This was mainly due to watching my first run for mistakes and better times.
Also, I can climb now. I did roughly 500m of vertical :) The 50 tooth dinner plate in the back is great. Mastering mountain bike skills is great.
Tomorrow, I will session sections along with dialling braking points, then full runs.
My friends neck brace is much better for neck movement, but still limiting. It gives me faith that an appropriately sized neck brace will be even better.
I was unable to edit today, but I’ll do kal.
I’ll publish this and then sleep. Bye now.
This is what kal looks like:
I will likely move to substack for ease of use and better discoverability.
PS. search for suspension model recommended settings and follow that. I did that post ride today.
I am grateful for hamza, my mother and seth bike hacks

https://ilyaas.netlify.app/posts/i-cannot-stop/
I went to the AA place in Frankton after breakfast to start my license overseas conversion. No Longer.
I have been eating too much, I can see the accumulation of fat arounf my waste.
Lower carbs. that looks like: Max 2 bowls of oats in the morning. Lunch - right now, 1 can baked beans and 100g rice. Dinner: A lot of meat and greens, only a fistful of carbs.
This is my simple meal plan for the day ahead.
I am also hard dopamine detoxing again - no videos, only podcasts. Phone usage way down. Learning to be bored again.
Routine: Ride 2x a day - I am thinking 2 laps of Wynyard DH before breakfast and then 2 round after lunch again. I will do 2 laps after lunch tomorrow, as I have to go the DMV equivalent to book an test appointment for NZ learners license. Editing - Finish the Indian videos, which is last 2 ride and coming to QT vid, if there is enough footie to make that. Regular documentation - Daily blog or unfiltered video.
So main things: Ride and edit. work when shift is available. 30 mins a day license theory practice and 30 mins of writing for blog.
I will put strava in the blog for proof.
I also want to wake at 5. I will work my way up.
I have also figured out that because I was not having lunch, I was being a layman. I found 10 cans of baked beans for free, which will roughly equate to a week worth of food. So that is sort.
I tried a neck brace I found on marketplace, did not work. I could not look ahead while wearing that thing. I have messaged a friend that is selling his old neck brace as well and will pick it up tomorrow, and test it out.
To do for tomorrow: Buy MouthGuard Fill license conversion form Cook Lunch 400g rice 4 baked beans Kiwi bank eftpos 2 laps wynyard DH EP 12 Edit
I also took 5 mins 41 secs to do 1 run of Wynyard DH. Too slow. Pros could do that in 1. I have to get 6 times faster. I want to finish in 3 minutes by the end of the year.
I was starting to get complacent because of my progress on Mini Dream. Being shit at descending has taken it away. I am letting Mini Dream go because of the rains. The jumps are slow right now.
I also went over my Wynyard run, and my line choice was shit, found some better lines pausing and reviewing footage. I just have to remember them now.
I also realise that work at the job I found may not be as plentiful as I’d like. I seem to be like a backup type person, where they only notify me if shifts are available, rather than, these shifts are available for this week, when are you available? It is more of a ‘we need you at X place at X time. Are you available?’
I also need to drink more water. This is ridiculous.
The academic world and the business world are actually so different :).
Back to me. I woke up at 5 AM for only 1/5 days. I think this is a result of my sleeping late, which is a consequence of time-wasting.
I have lost my ability to sit still as I eat or to be bored in general. I developed this ability at the start of this year when I lost my phone. I may need to simulate that again.
Piyush has made me go back to the Transition line to correct my technique.
I am riding the bike more now, becoming a part of the bike rather than being a slave to its movement.
I am pushing more into the lip and letting it do the work, rather than exploding and pulling too hard, ending up as a dead sailor in the air.
Piyush also put me in contact with Shauna from Remarkable People, where I am getting a job for 24.5 NZD, pre-tax, or 19.6 post-tax, as a general worker in a casual role. I get to choose the shifts I please.
I will likely work 80 hours in the next 3 weeks to pay for my PMBIA level 1 certification and some other MTB protection that totals around 1500 NZD or so. I realized that I could work during my scheduled breaks. But now that I potentially have an income source, I need to employ more discipline to cut back on unnecessary desires. I want to maximize my bike time and not get caught up in the rat race of working more hours for more money to then manage a less fulfilling life. I want to work just enough to sustain my MTB and nothing more. I do not want to work to make money and outsource parts of my life. Time is more valuable than money. I need time to ride and edit my MTB videos.
Also, my current schedule leaves little time for studying for exams, which means I am just barely passing. This may prove problematic if I want to further my studies, and possibly finish and get a degree at ICMS Australia. But I am done preparing for contingencies, always putting other stuff first because MTB might not work out, and prioritizing other work or studying so I can get to places where I can improve my MTB skills. I’d rather get there based on my MTB skills like Piyush did with the British Downhill Series. I may email and set an appointment with an immigration agency when I have extra cash to figure out if I can get a skilled migrant visa or if I have to have an AEWV visa.
My sister may have a lethal illness, and I don’t seem to be emotionally affected. If she were to die tomorrow, it would not impact my life, other than the occasional Google Photos memory. It’s interesting how I seem to turn off my emotions often; being emotion-free seems to be my default state.
It’s also like most things I read are now mental masturbation because I could have been taking action instead of reading that particular thing.
I’m glad I can learn from Piyush, who, every 2/3 days, gives me a mini coaching lesson for 15 minutes and provides feedback as he watches me ride. But I have to be aware that I do not want to have his life. His knowledge and contacts are of great value, but his mindset and way of life are not. Piyush’s circle, people, and life are not the end-all-be-all; I want to use them as a springboard to greater heights.
Video calling Kashish reminded me why I don’t speak to him anymore - because of his lack of direction and inaction. He is genuinely happy for me, and I appreciate him for that. I will help him as much as I can, but I will not spend a lot of time with him because I do not want to fall to his level.
It is also interesting as I integrate more here and get more familiar with people. I no longer feel like an outsider or that people around me are outside my tribe. This has resulted in physical attraction, something I have become very skilled at ignoring because emotional attraction does not exist, and there is no opportunity to build it.

https://ilyaas.netlify.app/posts/found-a-job/
My Business Communication just penalized us for using ChatGPT.
I’ll laugh in 5 years when they realize it’s like asking students not to use Google. I am confident that I can do 2 more jumps and change one jump line to a bigger one, but including the weekend, I should finish mini dream small line this week, and move on to the bigger line next week.
Finish InfoTech Ad And Niche Market Presentation - These are less goals, more things to get done, so I can move on to editing my last Indian rides.
Brush twice a day every day - There is a cavity developing around my wisdom tooth, which is getting loose, and I do not want it to continue.
Life update:
It is becoming summer, so I am wearing fewer layers, and sunlight is extending longer. I will keep MTB first and let editing go until I get a job, at which point I will do more editing, because I won’t have to do homework, and/or outsource editing.
In the last 2 days, I did 3 jumps of Mini Dream. This is up from practicing the transition line for 2 weeks straight. Exponential progress. Thanks to Piyush, I am getting the technique dialed, which feels like a cheat code, I have unlocked every jump on Mini Dream, I just have to have the balls and familiarity/ speed judgment to do them.
Having Piyush give feedback is like trying to form sentences with words, instead of letters. It becomes about stringing techniques together, instead of trying to figure out what the technique is or what to do in the first place. I am grateful.
I am grateful to be around much better jumpers, and soon when the Skyline bike park opens in 3 weeks, much faster riders. I observe them and then get towed in by them, which makes my progress so much faster. Today I was towed in by a grandfather, with a 10-year-old retro ass bike with an external air chamber for the shock :). Absolute legend. I also found a dude called Logan. He is 13, but fast. Something about him makes me like him.
I also realized that I can summarise the difference between JBCN and QRC as: JBCN instills an owner’s mindset and QRC instills an employee’s mindset. Less agency, more rule-following.
As for the people, JBCN kids were driving for something. Here many more are NPCs - partying, having fun, that sort of thing. Makes me appreciate my Indian friends a lot more. But that is likely an outcome of my course, which tends to attract a certain kind of ‘chill’ person. I, of course, am using this as my ticket to a Western country. That may have proved an unwise decision, due to the lack of an open post-study work visa, but let’s see what I’ll make of it.
Today I spoke to Zulf, who asked me if I was hitting on any girls. Piyush asked me ‘chhorri ko pataya’ as well. This is likely due to my lack of enthusiasm or interaction in class, but I haven’t found a chick with a similar lifestyle and ambition. I have not found the whole package - there are gym girls, but I know for a fact that they don’t read. I am using that as a proxy for intelligence/hunger for improvement or great professional aspirations. I am not worried, because I’ve set up my life that way. I probably do not come off as ambitious or extraordinary to them either. A chick has shown interest, but I’ve ignored it. There are bigger fish to fry. Overall it makes me more grateful for Roof, for showing what was possible, both in terms of emotions and person quality. However that brings its own issues of comparison and sometimes, longing. But as I work on it, it reduces.
Yakheem, if that is his spelling, complimented me on my rate of progress. If Piyush continues to teach me techniques, I think it is only a matter of time before I start winning races. because I will do the volume necessary to get there. And, to my surprise, I am willing to sacrifice YouTube for it as well.
I am reading more as well. But again, it is mental masturbation. There are other books I should read that will be more helpful. I also realised that for some things, like parenting, looking at the data is useless, because I and my children will not have the life circumstances of most, for I will change them.
I also realized that I will expect my wife to become a full-time mother, despite her ambitions. I will also be a full-time father, despite my ambitions, because as long as I fit my wife, children, and work in the day - considering 4h for each, that is a good day. A lack of social life may be a common theme in my life.
People are surprised by the fact that I don’t have friends, but I have been this way for quite a while. I don’t ‘hang out’. We study/ride together. Sometimes we sort emotions out together, but I’ve never been one for just timepass, except for Boisar. Even with Vihaan and Arya - there has been studying and editing/studying respectively.
I find Modern Wisdom By Chris Williamson informative.
This blog may have been mimetic desire because Siddha and Vivek are blogging, but this one has been inspired by Siddha’s blog post, and it has been good to dump shit on paper. Visualize This see a movie of you winning, of whatever success is to you every day.
This positively reinforces your new identity.
3. Foresee Your Potential Failure Visualize the obstacles that could come up.
Think of specific things that could happen.
It could be as simple as searching for a YouTuber. Now visualize yourself closing that tab as soon as you realize what has happened.
Journal: What obstacles could I face? and then solve them. Prevent them. Most people don’t do this. And this is how you win.
For me, this is knowing I can fall off jumps and riding with full body armor(elbow, chest, shoulder, back) and kneepads, and getting the best helmet I can. I will get a mouthguard and neck brace soon.
Goal Setting Parkinson’s law: the task will swell up to fit till the deadline.
This means a 2-hour essay will take a week if the deadline is Friday.
Solution: Set the deadline earlier. I personally set deadlines for my work at least 3 days before the deadline. With MTB, I have goals - sections of trails/jumps I want to nail by the end of the week.
I have not been doing this for my videos. Now: max 2 weeks a video but the best I can make it. 100X effort. 10 times the time. Journal and figure out how to make the story better. Iterate.
Long-term goals: 12 months short term goals - monthly milestones
What is a reasonably unreasonable achievement for that amount of time?
For me, the short run monthly is to nail mini ream by the 23rd of September (when Skyline opens). Nail all trails by 31st December, and win local races by the end of the season. Winning local races is a 9-month, relatively long-term goal.
It has to be reasonable, you must respect the process. Not a million next year, not the world cup next year. Buy local races next year, then national, then world cups.
The key: success compounds
it is exponential. You won’t get 100 subs every month to get to a thousand. It’ll be a whole lot of nothing, then it will shoot up. Rich get richer. Your audience compounds.
This means: you may not see results for 6 months. Keep going.
Don’t cash in right now. long term success is the key. Delay gratification. If the long-term goal is 10K subs, you can clickbait now to get 1K right now, but that would reduce goodwill and you would have less to cash in later. That means 100 subs across the next 6 months.
And those tactics take you away from the long-term goal. They take time and attention away from what would be needed to set things up such that you get 10K the next year.
Now set weekly goals - but these will be action-oriented - ex. I will make 1 video or I will spend 10 hours making this video, or I will do 100 runs of the transition line this week.
To figure out what to do to get the goal exactly:
4. 80/20 rule: What tasks should you do?
The tasks that cause most of your results.
For me, this would be: making videos(editing), studying, and riding. Over the 3 sections of my life that matter most.
This note/blog is not part of the essential few.
Here: Ask yourself, “What would you do if you could only work for 2 hours a week?”
If it was my whole life, then it would be to ride. because that is one thing I cannot forgo. I of course would be going to school, and concentrating in class would be enough to pass.
If you spend most of your time only riding, and then rest and digest and think about riding and how to ride better, you defeat everyone else making social media posts and all.
I am doing this. I am doing the blog, Twitter, and the hamza ahmed podcast. But so is Alex. Business, youtube, and writing.
I am: MTB School YT Blog/Twitter/skool - but all of this comes together and is a result of my learning. It is just me learning. But I am spending time making the writing better to release it. maybe that time can be used for studying, and editing videos, and such. Maybe I should stop doing this until I have reached success and can outsource this elsewhere.
Hamza Ahmed Podcast is something I will have to figure out and do to make money.
Hamza contradicts here with the mindset of working all day. The diminishing value is what ultimately skyrockets, but again, it will be better when you can outsource shit. As he said, he has a team of people. SO solution: don’t do bullshit until you can hire the people to do the bullshit for you.
Yeah, he says this after. Outsource everything else. So the game plan is to do the main thing until you have the means to ‘do’ bullshit but it is being outsourced - done by someone else.
Now set your weekly goal according to this: for me: sort anki and CulInt presentation Sort mini dream end finish Slade’s wedding and make it a masterpiece.
Focus on this during work hours.
5. Make a Habit Tracker Stick it up on your wall. For extra accountability, put it on your doors where others can see
LEft date, with columns for affirmations, visualizations, 20% tasks
Now think of yourself getting the outcome you want. 10 seconds. go do it. I’m waiting.
now tick off visualizations.
When you are unable to tick a task, that feels like shit and that is what matters.
Never tear up the habit tracker. Keep the accountability. Feel like shit when you do not do it. That is what will incentivize you to do it.
6. Fast from Food This is the fastest boost.
Intermittent fasting, for me, I wake up early 4 to 5am, and I don’t eat until seven, so that is 2 to 3 hours of fasted work, mainly editing. And that works for me, however, by 7am I get hungry and tired, and personally, as an athlete with good insulin response, carbs don’t tire me.
So experiment with this.
Hamza has the first 5 hours of his days fasted at the time of recording his course and has currently moved on to a full carnivore one meal-a-day diet. So no carbs at all.
Takeaway: don’t eat before you do your 20% tasks.
Yes, this will impact muscle protein synthesis and your gym gains negatively. Decide what is the priority and proceed accordingly.
It will not however fuck your muscles, eat later during the day, that is still 2 to 3 MPS windows, and as long as you get enough protein in, that should be good enough.
Add fast column to the habit tracker.
7. Sleep properly Better sleep, better brain, so prioritize this.
2 big things:
Allocate more time in bed. Time in bed=sleep time. you will sleep less than your bedtime. 80% is good sleep efficiency. So aim for 10 hours in bed. For me, I will sleep at 8 and wake up at 5 regardless. 7:30 max.
routine vs sleep. If you go out and fuck up bedtime for the day, take that loss and keep your routine. Keep your routine.
Add wake-up time and bedtime to your habit tracker.
8. Optimize your diet What to eat?
Eat clean. No definition. Just eat what is clean to you, and that is good enough.
Eat cleaner every day. You know this inherently.
Change your self-image to someone who eats healthy. You are the weird person who eats cleanly all the time.
9. Prioritize Your Mental Health Your mental health determines your productivity.
The depressed millionaire is an outlier. And you are not him, if you were, you’d already be him.
It takes 2 weeks to significantly increase your mental health.
Get the NHS mood assessment. Write down your depression and anxiety.
Now: Daily meditation, gratitude journaling, and sunlight.
For sunlight, specifically, be outside and look towards the sky. 10-20 mins, and you’ll be sorted. Stack all of them together for extra efficiency.
Add these to your habit tracker.
10. Exercise Like This do HIIT/Tabata for 2 to 4 mins. That is it.
And then work.
This will help facilitate getting into the focus state easier, and mitigate the friction.
Hamza recommends shadowboxing.
11. Turn OFF Notifications I have done this.
Only email is kept because those are important, I’ve missed exams because of this and it has cost me.
Put your phone on do not disturb. Certain contacts can be kept as emergency, so when they call/text it will go through. Set that up.
Disable the tap to wake and wake when picked up features.
Disable notifications on the lock screen as well.
No notifications on desktop as well.
Hamza loses respect for the people who have notifications enabled and honestly, I do too.
12. Don’t Switch Tasks Do not multitask.
When most people hit a wall that would take between a minute and 5 to get over, they just task switch to something stimulating. Do not do this. This will result in 25 minutes worth of focus, gone. Why? Task switching residue. Your brain takes time to switch contexts fully.
Stay in that difficult frictionful state, where you are unable to progress. If you are thinking of video ideas and do not get more, stay with that boredom and feeling, you will break through. This is what your competitor is unwilling to do and this is why you will win.
13. What About Your Family? Accept that with a level of stoicism, accept and work despite it. Imagine how much better you’ll be when you finally can get to a peaceful place.
When they start seeing your focus and wake up early and go for a ride, they will develop this respect for you and over time automatically become quiet when you’re working.
But until they develop that respect, you respond with love and gratitude. Be grateful. You’d be fucked if they weren’t around if they were dead. Be grateful.
this is my way - escape it. Set up your workplace at a friend’s house. Or stay before or after school at school and work there. I am writing this at school. no one is in this class. focus max environment.
  14. Make Your Timetable Make it on google calendar. Turn your day into a habit. Have a long-term routine. Before sleeping, before the night routine, plan the next day in google calendar.
What is the optimum day for you? Schedule everything, including social. To not make your timetable a prison, make it a day you’d be happy to live on repeat.
This will allow for experiments and optimizations over time specific to you. You will save a lot of time, and it will compound. Your efficiency will increase.
Focus on the weekly milestone tasks here.
15. Your 2-Week Plan put your habit tracker in your face.
do them.
Track the number of deep work hours, and gamify it.
Over time use leverage and outsource shallow tasks, and transition to working on the business instead of in the business, making decisions and letting others execute.
16. What Work Should I do? Come up with solutions to a pain you have. Fulfill a need. Market it. Make money.
What problem do you want to solve? What pain do you relate to? Solve it.
Chase the problem you want to solve, not the benefit you want to have.
17. How To Increase Deep Work Hours Fast before work (already covered) Once you do say 3 hours of deep work recording, you can take a break and switch the task whether that be reading, scripting, editing and the like. Over time, you will increase your Deep Work hours a day. 4 hours of Deep work is a limiting belief, your whole day can be deep work, as long as you switch tasks after a couple of hours, and keep practicing the craft.

https://ilyaas.netlify.app/posts/adonis-productivity/
1. Another word for belief is mindset.
Video 2: Work All Day You will not make money doing nothing. Value must be provided.
All income is active; the question is, “how active is it?”
Hamza lived a life where he only had to work 4 hours a week. It was depressing. Anyone on school vacation with nothing to do will relate to this. Hard work is fulfilling.
What can you do all day? Do that. Make that your active income.
Active income is the way to go. Working for active income forms the ‘good old days’.
Video 3: Change Your Identity You must become someone new to succeed.
Change your identity. This works. I became the ‘social guy’. This made it easy to be social at school. I was identified as such as well. Positive flywheel.
One can think of the people they want to model and ask themselves what they would do.
That is, “What would Hamza do?”
Do what they’d do.
As an athlete: what would Michael Jordan do?
Video 4: Don’t Fry Your Dopamine Receptors: If you get too much dopamine from one source, then there’s less incentive to get it from elsewhere. Especially if you’re getting it with little effort.
Cheap dopamine lowers your dopamine baseline, making your normal existence shittier.
So, only effortful dopamine sources will lead to childlike happiness all the time.
We can use the brainpoints concept here as well:
If you spend your dopamine points, you have less for elsewhere.
Refuse to sacrifice your dopamine points for bullshit. Save them for your dreams.
Video 5: 10k A Month Is Not A Lot Of Money $10K is not a lot. Believe you can get there. What amount seems too much? Fame constricts freedom in most ways. Money does the opposite.
Likes are not valuable. A core audience that loves you is.
You gotta amass an audience, and then make a product to sell to your audience.
The best metric to judge an audience is goodwill. The value you provided in excess of charge.
Your monthly income is a better metric than likes, but the number of people that think they owe you is an even greater metric.
Video 7: Penetrate Your Fears You will stay stagnant because you lie to yourself that this is as far as you can go. You are not living up to your potential because of fear.
What are you afraid of?
I am afraid of people who know me shitting on me for selling out or for overcharging (currency difference). Do not rig the game or make it shitty/unpleasant to get a higher score.
Play the game you like. The highest score without messing with the experience. Money is a progress indicator, not the absolute.
Become addicted to the game of business.
The chase of the mission, the work preceding the outcome is the fulfillment. My roommate is asleep. The sun is down. It is pitch black outside. In the video, I am talking about how I am going to be poor when I go to Queenstown. I am in Queenstown now. It hits me. This is a limiting belief. I am sabotaging my growth because I do not believe that I will be rich until I finish college.
I think back to yesterday, I was sitting in class. Everyone left for home. Even my teachers had left. I’d recently purchased Adonis School. There I was, sitting and taking notes from Hamza’s “$1K Online In 30 Days (and Beyond)" course’s Mindset module.
He said, “Your beliefs and traits are your limits. You have the skill to upload, to write, but you are not doing it.
Clearly, my traits are not my current constraint. I am waking up early. I am waiting back after school. It has to be my belief.
That’s it. A belief shattered. I can get rich. Watch me get rich. Watch me amass wealth and leverage it to fulfill my dreams.
This is from one module from one course in Adonis School. Here is what I learned from the entire Mindset module of the “$1K Online In 30 Days (and Beyond)” course.
Video 2: Find the Jeffrey Ask yourself, “What is slowing me down in my pursuit?”
For me, this would be:
What is slowing me down in MTB? School - it takes most of my day. My Lodge’s breakfast timings. I miss more time to ride because my lodge serves breakfast after sunrise. If I could have food before sunrise, I would get more time to ride before school. I could just get yogurt and leave?
This transitions to my second constraint - a lack of time. I could ‘cheat code’ this by spending money on MTB coaching and increasing the return on my current time spent practicing, however, this would need money. Therefore, I have started this endeavor.
What is slowing me down on YouTube? With YouTube, I don’t know how to edit to craft a story better. I edit, and then I do not know what to do. But this constraint is slowly coming off, as I read ‘Storyworthy’ by Matthew Dicks and as I learn about the story, emotion, and rhythm triangle to make cuts. I also stumbled upon a YouTube coach from the Synthesizers community.
Who is the Jeffrey in your life? What is the one thing slowing you down, just like how almost always, it is one factor that slows down the pack from moving faster?
Who is the Jeffrey, slowing down the whole pack because we cannot split up and go past him?
Video 3: Brain Points If you send messages, check emails, or have food before you get to work, you lose brain points that you could have otherwise spent on pursuing your dreams.
What are brain points? It is brainpower quantified. This is subjective and estimated, not hard science.
This would mean: doing THE THING first thing in the morning - for me - sleeping at 8 pm and waking up at 4 am, and that is 3 hours of deep work - that would be editing.
Save your brain points for the things that matter. Save your brain points for your dreams.
For me, I should check my phone only after 7:30 am. For this, I would probably have to get an alarm or just toss the phone on my bed, out of sight, after switching off the alarm. I will try the latter out.
Ask yourself, “Where are your brain points going?”
Draw the essentialism graph for yourself. How many arrows and to what do you have? Don’t stop making arrows in 30 minutes. Keep asking yourself this with brutal honesty for a week straight, and then eliminate everything until you have a maximum of four.
Where do your thoughts go, on which topic?
What will you sacrifice for your dreams? Fitness - I am already doing this. Carbs make you stupid because they take a lot of energy to process. This is good for bulking but not for work. My carbs are delayed for dinner and lunch. I am sacrificing muscle for better work.
Hamza eats one meal a day carnivore style - goat cheese, 2 to 3 steaks, 8 to 10 eggs, and butter.
How to save brain points: Use Google Calendar. Plan tomorrow today. Absolute key. Have a timetable for the next day and a rough long-term routine, a long-term outline of what your days look like. That is, wake up and sleep at X time, eat X things at X time, and wear X things every day.
Turn your notifications off for everything. Personally, I still have them on for my personal email. My email has been cleaned up to only notify me of important things like my visas, etc.
Ensure your phone does not automatically turn on when you pick it up. I had already done this.
Switch your phone to grayscale as well. This may not seem like much at first, but after 7 days, if you switch back to color, you will realize how they use color to entice you to spend more time on your phone.
Hamza says to put your phone on “Do Not Disturb,” but I have not done that because, in New Zealand, I have only 4 contacts. So when someone calls, it is urgent (and this has not happened yet).
While working, put your phone out of sight and never check it. Hamza puts it under his bedsheet. I put my phone in a cupboard as well.
Do not check your phone, even if it is a 10-second text. Task-switching penalty will slow you down for the next 25 minutes.
Right now, do not bulk. This goes back to carbs and training. Do not train hard. Do more cardio and HIIT. Hard resistance training will affect your Central Nervous System for the day and result in brain fog.
Hamza says the current META (Most Effective Tactic Available) may be to increase income and then get the perfect trainer, chef, and supplements to almost cheat code your fitness journey.
And if you are going to a gym, you will have fake desires, mimetic desires, and desires that are not your true desires, and following them will not lead to the achievement of your true and ultimate goals. I made this mistake. I switched to bodybuilding-style training for 2 months, when in reality, it did not help me become a faster mountain biker but just made me feel better about myself.
Increasing brain points: Exercise every day. That is Zone 2 cardio for around 30 minutes a day. Zone 2 cardio is when you are walking and can still talk to your friends. Think of an easy hike.
Meditation. Sit for 5 minutes and think about nothing.
Sleep for 8 hours a day in a cold, dark room, and don’t watch screens for 2 hours before bed.
Low carbs, high protein, high fat. No sugar, no processed foods. Eat clean.
(Optional) Get a Whoop/Oura and track HRV. The better your HRV, the more brain points you have. 45 is a bad day for Hamza, and 70 is a good day.
  Carbs and weightlifting decrease HRV.
Video 4: Eat The Frog Do the thing that matters: the hard, game-changing, high-leverage deep work task, first thing in the day.
High leverage means whatever generates the most output, whatever generates the most of the outcome you desire.
For me, this is video editing, and then riding before school. Currently, I edit at 5 am, but I am in the process of changing this to sleeping at 8 pm and waking up at 4 am. This means breakfast at 6:45 am, leaving at 7:30 am, and riding for an hour before school.
My Frog tasks are to edit and ride. School is a frog task only on the weekends. I usually do schoolwork after school.
“Days are made of mornings. Life is made of days. Master mornings, master life.” - Hamza Ahmed
You do this by using Alex Hormozi’s two biggest productivity tactics: Wake up early. Work straight after waking up.
Hamza does two 3-hour deep work tasks a day. That is 6 hours a day. The first one is at 5 am and the second one is at 8:45 am. He does self-improvement habits in the middle. Then reduce noise in the later half of the day, so you wake up the next day with more brain points.
“Eat the frog” will result in volume. This is what matters most. Eating the frog every day conquers your days.
Video 5: Limiting Inputs Limit the information you take in. Too much processing. Too much intake. Too much information is influencing you. Then you don’t know where to go because everyone contradicts each other. Just choose one thing and do it. Let the compounding skyrocket you.
If you only get Adonis as input, you will win. If you allow Tate Shorts and other YouTube videos as input, you will lose.
Just listen to the winners. For me, this is Alex Hormozi and Adonis School/Hamza. And for MTB - I just practice/ride with people faster than me and literally follow; I ride behind them and learn from how they ride.
Only take advice from people who have dreams bigger than yours and have achieved what you want.
Maximize the learning from one big source. Listen to 1 person and squeeze the knowledge out of them. Just like a relationship - grow with one high-quality partner or keep engaging with multiple partners to find the best, and end up alone and degenerate.
This is the Alex Hormozi story of ‘how easy it would be if you closed all your other businesses and focused on this one?’ “A piece of cake.” “Then do that.”
Choose a business and keep climbing. Long-term, exponential. Let it compound. Let yourself get better and enjoy the fruits of volume.
Less input is like having blinders on, you can’t even see the shiny objects and the girls in red dresses.
For me, don’t let your videos be MrBeastified - tell your story at your own pace, unfiltered and all. Be the authentic you.
How do you limit input? Go on a dopamine detox Block YouTube Have a focused mindset. “I do not listen to bullshit.” Read “Discipline is Destiny." Video 6: Fat Man’s Gym Summarized: Just start. Shut the fuck up and do it. Volume.
You are the fat man at the gym but in the realm of business. Start. Alex Hormozi’s Rule 100. Only tell me that we have no mattock because his father misplaced ours and no shop are open right now.
After a small argument, Kashish and I hopped on his scooter and went to Bhiwandi. THere, Kashish picked up his new 10 speed chain and a mattock.
After we reached back, we spoke about Kashish’s PC plans and Sri was giving him advice on video editing. Hitesh and Sri left shortly after. They did ~8 runs while we were gone. Now we were left alone to build.
To be fair, Kashish and I did scout the hill while waiting for them. This has tree shade like Pashan, and has potential for trail building from scratch - paving a path where there is none, not adding features to natural trails. With a spot for Kalyan’s very own death drop, Vishal Gap and Snake Line, it seems like this going to be the mail Kalyan riding spot for a while. I plan on building only for the next 6 months, getting my MTB to test features.
Watching Mark Mathews and seeing Kashish’s determination leads me to believe that this hill is an opportunity waiting to be capitalized on. Smal hill, great tree cover, and supportive forest officer - the only rule is to not die. After home trails where I have to remain cautious of encountering forest authority, this permission is a breath of fresh air.
We rebuilt the old table. The top soil had withered away, leaving only the base of rocks. As usual, I did the digging.Kashish collected the soil and put it on top of the jump, with a little something called ghamela. I don’t know what it is called in english. We made renewed it. We may have to lengthen the landing and make the take-off steeper. But I doubt it. The speed into the jump is more than enough; I usually overshoot the landing.

After what must be 2 hours of building, some cursing at the others for not joining the build, some future plan discussions, we ended the day. By the end, I just got onto my laptop. I was sitting there on the side of the trail with my laptop configuring a PC build. It was a sight to see.
I later went to Kashish’s place to refill my bottle and show him arya’s film. He liked it. I explained to him that we have many recources, that knowledge is abundant, we just have to seek it out. The main reason I went to his place is because I did not get my bicycle with me, and sharing rickshaw to station costs rs40 from his place.
Big thanks to him for the pick up and drop. We planned on going to Pune monthly and decided to go on the 12th of November. As the week progressed, Siddha said he wanted to do a 2-day trip instead of a day trip to Pune. Kashish said he’d join both days. I remained adamant on one day due to a board exam, which is kal (tomorrow) btw, and said I would leave by train and to get my MTB by car. They agreed.
Fast forward to Friday. Siddha told me to come over at night to figure the car rack out so we could leave early in the morning. I declined because of comfort and night routine. He told me to be there at 5. I set my alarm for 3am. Kashish went there the night before. I was packing till like 11am at night, which is my fault completely, as I started late - at 9:30 or so. My packing was quite quick. I realize I live quite light for the day. If I want to stay the night is when I get really heavy in terms of luggage. The main thing was carrying tiffins - 5 of them worth one day’s food. It is quite the mountain. But as someone who has been berated by Abhijeet for carrying 3 duffel bags for Temghar trips, and 2 bags for a day trip (one of them being MTB guards and water). that is quite good.
Upon waking up, I checked my phone to see if there are any changes or complications in the plan. And there it is, Siddha telling me to come over at 5:30 instead, so put an alarm and slept for 30 mins, or that was the intention. Pashan excitement + phone blue light = little and shit sleep. I “woke up” at 3:30, and left the house at 4:30. I reached Siddha’s at 5:30 because there was a climb that slowed me down on the way to his place. Not as bad as Kashish would later make it out to be, but something that slowed me down. At six I reached and waited at Siddha’s for half an hour because neither of them was ready. Someone was busy figuring out the car rack till 3AM. That is ridiculous considering how Siddha is on his way to becoming a mechanical engineer. We must have spent an hour loading up the car with bikes and luggage. We were then on our way to Pashan. I am glad I brought my laptop because I was able to put that time to good use - I took notes on like 4 videos. That was good. Something that made Kashish and I laugh - upon seeing Hamza in his bathrobe, Siddha’s brother, Harsh, exclaimed “Jesus!” That was fuckin A. Hamza as Jesus. Made us crack up.
I took notes all the way there minus 20km. At this point we realized Harsh did not have any protection. Fortunately, we had just passed Decathlon Wakad and it was a short detour. As we were on our way to the checkout, Harsh pointed out a sticker that said “Rs 699” and exclaimed “See 69. 69 is a bad number.” Shocked this 9-year-old knew about the sex position, I asked him what it mean, and explained to me that he can’t say such things and to ask Siddha. insert Tai Lopez knowledge meme I love that kids know about this. The internet is fucking great. Opportunity 100.
! We must have reached Pashan at 12. I had oats at Durga, that I couldn’t have in the car as Siddha’s father was fasting. I also drank cold coffee with crushed chocolate. Kashish and Siddha asked me if I would during the drive. I said yes. It is because it helps me ride better - caffeine as a Performance enhancing drug because I don’t drink it the rest of the year. However, I can feel the pull to order one more when I have it. Man, it is crazy how addictive sugar is. Spent the next hour meeting the Pune gang, sorting my MTB bag, and unloading bikes. We left for the hill by roughly 2pm. My plan was to leave at sunset for home, so I was in a hurry to ride and reached the top 15 to 30 mins before everyone else. I did 3 to 4 whoop runs. Then started on to the Snake line. I couldn’t find a lot of the previous trails I had ridden, and that frustrated me, I was also distracted. I was unable to nail the berms like I was able to in 2019. That frustrated me as well. Then the crowd came. I joined one whoop line trail and headed one. There was a drop at the end of the trail that was completely doable. I was scared of hitting it. I imagined myself crashing on it and got scared. That I can say only in hindsight and also only because I eyed another feature, a step down before the snake line step-up. I eyed that. I got scared. Then I say Viru pop off it and directly into the step-up like he was meant to fly. I saw it was doable. I was also… jealous? No. I don’t think that is the case. I saw it could be done and then challenged myself to try. The strategy - volume, incremental progression. I did 3 to 5 dry runs and hit it in the fifth one. meaning, I landed flat. That was the worst thing that could happen. I did not crash and break my bones. My suspension took most of it. It was just like riding the rock gardens at the Temple trail. The feeling was familiar. Now, it was to increase speed and pop. But that was scary as well. But Kashish told me something that I kept saying to myself for the 10 runs after when I was trying to increase my speed and pop. that was “Darr ke aage jeet hai.” I kept saying to myself that because the speed and length needed to clear was more than I was comfortable with, and that was scary. I knew I was going to keep doing it, but it was easy to get complacent; To not progress, to not push the speed, to not pop as much as I could have. That was easy.
This is interesting, despite that being easy, that was not my way. I knew for sure that I would keep pushing myself, but I still pushed myself to push. How interesting is that? I knew I would do it. I needed the self-talk, the push I gave, to do it regardless. It is my nature. As I pushed myself, I started to jump farther and farther. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is positive reinforcement. I was hooked. a flow state soon followed, not in the complete I am losing myself and track of time way that I experienced in Pashan Fest 2019, but in a way that I would keep going up and doing it, without thinking about it. Instinct, that is what it was. I overcame fear until I saw results. I acted until it echoed. The positive feedback loop was in place, and momentum was generated. The iterations were the easy part now. I kept doing it.
Side tangent: Harsh was also riding. He did the snake line a bit, and one time, this G just straight up just jumped from his bike because it was directed to the tree. He just baled and left his bike to take the impact. Smart move, but a hilarious one. One showing utter indifference to his bike’s condition, which I loved, kinda like abhijeet’s crash her Virendra told me I did it 38 times. I am certain that is an exaggeration. It was a grind though. I was unable to make the landing like I wanted to. I was 2 feet short. I’d been 2 feet for about 10 runs now. I was hungry. Viru said I needed more pop. I was trying. I got hungry, and everyone else got irritated. That’s fine. I took their shit and still continued. But 2 - 3 runs later, now time was little. The sun was about to set. I plateaued. I decided to stop because I plateaued. The plan was to go to Berm line. That would help me not lose speed on the pre-lip berm. so I stopped. Viru however, told us that by the time we got to that side of the hill, sunlight would have been exhausted. He suggested one snake line run and then Full-Sus line to the bottom of the hill. So we did that.
I gave my GoPro to Kapil from Ragewheels to record. The Full Sus line was unfamiliar and I was following Viru. I tried to keep up but he vanished 20 seconds into the trail. I was riding a trail I did not know at an uncomfortable speed. In Manori, this story ended in a broken toe and a rickshaw ride home. This time it ended in a plain ol' crash. Lucky me. Kapil, who was following me, helped me get my bars back in alignment, and off we went.
Post 2 lunch tiffins at Durga, we went to hotel eminent. I started howling on the way, usual Ilyaas is hungry/tired shit. (Arya and Yasir know.) I howled when we reached. A guy beside us looked at me and asked me not to do it. He was the hotel manager. He later denied us rooms. He said it is because they were all booked. Kashish and I think it is because of me howling. Siddha and his father sat in the car for an hour trying to find a hotel.to our chagrin, Harsh was sleeping in the passenger seat and we couldn’t sit in the AC. We proceeded to sit on the footpath for an hour minimum, about to pass out - due to exhaustion. Mistake made. The both of us should’ve looked for hotels as well. I was being useless, operational drag. I will next time. I did not try to learn the car rack. same thing. I don’t try to learn Marathi when they speak it. I will, henceforth. Being useful, at all times.
At one point Siddha said, a cheap hotel 10km away or a mehenga (expensive) hotel 3km away. I said, “Mumbai. Let’s go home.” He said, “cool. We’ll do whatever you want”. He said this sincerely. In that moment, I saw the disappointment in his eyes, held his hand, and told him we’ll stay and find a hotel. They were able to find a hotel 4k away. Even prepaid for it. When we showed up there, half the apartments' drainage was not working. That was 6k stuck for 7 days. After 30 mins of calling OYO for a refund and waiting in the car, listening to hold music, we went back to Durga. Neelam is one more restaurant owned by the same guy. We ate there. I tried to find milk, but all shops were closed. I asked Durga and he was willing to give but would charge for a whole liter. I eventually gave in. Upon seeing my tiffin he said, he’ll give me a glass for free. After all, feeding dogs is a charitable act. I started laughing and told him it is my food - milk, roti, and peanut butter. He started apologizing profusely, it reminded me of Manav and Vihaan and I laughed hard. then ate slowly at Neelam, being the last one to finish my food. During the meal, Kashish called 3 hotels and all of them were booked.
We then gave up and started loading our luggage and bikes into the car. Around 30 mins in I sat on the footpath, with my head on my bag in front of me, and just..slept. Siddha or Kashish woke me, but I was so sleepy, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Eventually, they finished and I was told to sleep in the car. I did. Harsh slept on Kashish’s lap. Oh, I gave Harsh “The Way of the Warrior Kid” by Jocko Willink just before I went to sleep and he seemed to like it. Even completed 20% of the book. I will give it to him next time as well.
We did have the option to ride 10km to the hotel. I should have sucked it up - told the rest to load the bikes and I should’ve taken Siddha’s bike and ridden the 10km so Kashish and Siddha could’ve ridden Pashan the next day. They really wanted to. Taken one for the tribe. I will next time.
at the time of writing, I figured out a way to go to Pune every weekend for a day trip. Now I just have to figure out if that is 1. Possible and 2. sustainable. I am excited. It only took 2 days of problem-solving. I had a long-held belief it was out of the realm. Impossible to do that. I broke that belief and in 2 days I figured it out. I look forward to more limiting beliefs I can break.
We reached SIdhha’s at 5am. I immediately went to his bedroom, took my eyemask, and slept. Sometime later, I heard someone making unintelligible noises and I woke up and shouted maa ki chut. Siddha told me it is just Kashish sleep-talking. I went to sleep immediately after. Apparently, both of them laughed a lot about it.
I woke up at 12, and I was asked about food. I declined and expressed keen interest to take my bike and just go home. I think Siddha’s parents took offense at that or were incredibly shocked someone would decline their food. Almost an insult.
About food - I did not want to stay in Pashan one more day partly due to my diet and not being able to follow it. That is now limiting. As an athlete, my bottleneck is not fitness, it is a skill. To acquire it, I must go places I will be unable to maintain my strict food intake. The same goes for sleep. I should’ve gone to Siddha’s at night. This would’ve saved an hour in the morning. Same unwillingness. My routine is comfortable. I experience discomfort in straying from it. But, comfort is the killer of man. It is not limiting instead boosting productivity. As such, I will look out for when it is limiting, and stray from it when necessary.
I left at 2, and the rest of the day was just a blur. I slept late though. So was Monday. I don’t remember why it was, but it won’t happen again. I am slowly going back to waking up early and kal tak (till tomorrow), I should be back to waking up at 6.
flying kisses
Pashan Trailpark: ride location
Instagram Post - see videos here

https://ilyaas.netlify.app/posts/12-nov-2022/
Upon realizing that Ambernath cannot be a long-term thing as they break our features.
First Pashan Trip After COVID-19
I woke up at 5 am, one hour earlier than I would ride at this spot because Kashish, who spent the night at Siddha’s, was coming to ride along with Siddha. I reached the meeting spot at 7:15. Prajwal reached at 7:30, despite leaving from Kurla at 7. He drove at 80kmph to reach on time. Kashish and Siddha reached 8. This was one hour late. This made me curse Siddha and hurry on the way up, where we found many runners going down the hill. I reached the top only to find a group of elderly trekkers having tea. I was initially concerned, thinking it was a jhund of forest officers. However, I soon realized that they were civilians having a good time. We spoke to them. In time, Kashish reached up, due to his unfamiliarity with the price that one has to pay to ride DH in Mumbai: Long Climbs.
After wearing all our gear, we started our ride down the hill. I stopped many times to clear out rocks on the trail. This broke the flow, which is the main USP of the trail we were riding - it is called “Flow Trail”. This resulted in Kashish later telling me he thought that the first trail we rode was a waste of time. We did ride the ending section of the trail that we usually do not in fear of forest authorities, but it was completely empty, and pumping the trail resulted in 60kmph. It was refreshing. I know to ride that section often, and there hasn’t been anyone there to date.
On the way up, I cleared a lot of the trail. A bunch of plants and branches resulted in scars on our arms or plain going off-track due to greenery covering the trail. On the way down the Temple Trail, I stopped a lot to wait for Kashish and Prajwal, who were considerably slower, mainly by virtue of riding hardtails - the trail is gnarly. I am talking BIG boulders we have to meander our way through. Siddha went slower and showed Kashish and Prajwal the good lines. For that, I am grateful to him. He is like Slade in the manner that he loves social riding - I only do if I have people around me that I can learn from and do not slow me down. Usually, if I have people riding with me, they’re new to MTB and therefore operational drag. But that is something I’m willing to deal with due to the long-run return of having like-minded people around me, and how that enables bigger projects in terms of trail building and MTB trips - shared costs and bigger features.
Post ride, Siddha went home, and so did Prajwal, and Kashish went to a store he wanted to visit. I found myself craving the social interaction that usually comes post-ride. That was interesting. That is it. I am writing this after more than a week and have forgotten a lot of what happened on the ride. Lesson learned - write about the ride before you go to the next ride.
Instagram Post Here

https://ilyaas.netlify.app/posts/6-nov-2022/
I woke up at 5 am, one hour earlier than I would ride at this spot because Kashish, who spent the night at Siddha’s, was coming to ride along with Siddha. The only Mainland Mumbai bro who I ride with. The only mountain biker I know who comes close to being emotionally vulnerable with me. I value how you read consistently, and return my books in good condition. How you read mostly smut and I shit on you for it. I love how uncomfortable my sexuality makes you feel, and how you handle my flirts. It is a pleasure to flirt with you. Your discomfort is so absolutely entertaining. Here is to hoping both of us ride the Mumbai trail daily. It amazes me how fast you’ve gotten in what must be less than 6 months of riding. I hope you get into IIT and win nationals soon. I hope you figure out a way to visit Pashan as often as you want to. That was a dream of mine, and I would be so happy if you got to live that lifestyle.
Your next birthday will be celebrated without me. I look forward to the speed that one more year of riding would bring.
Happy birthday, brother.
Bohot Pyaar, Ilyaas
1st Nov 2022:
Met Siddha at 7. and eyed his new car,. The only difference I saw was black seats, but that only goes to show my ignorance when it comes to cars.
We climbed up the trail only for Siddha to tell me that it was his birthday, and he came on a weekday, which is a change in routine for him, for a birthday ride. Makes sense.
We ride the Flow Trail and Temple Trail after a long time, stopping consistently mid-trail to clear rocks. Once, I stopped to remove a rock, and black ants laid claim to my legs. That was scary, and getting them off was time-consuming.
They’ve put a bunch of branches at the start of the ending, a stretch where, when pumped properly will result in speeds of 60kmph, and temporary, but extreme euphoria. Siddha was hesitant to ride this segment due to the sheer number of obstacles they put up to prevent from entering. I convinced him otherwise and it paid off. I swear, by 2025 this trail will have vanished if we extend the current rate of construction. However, I doubt that would happen. That way of thinking is a fallacy. Unfortunately, the Uttan trail is basically not a trail anymore, the owners decided to turn it into a kaccha road.
I climbed much faster than Siddha, and shit my pants in the middle when I thought I saw police on the trail. Upon pumping our tires for the temple trail we realized I run my tires at 10 psi. I like it that way. Magic Mary is too strong for more air. Regardless, I pumped it up to 20 psi, and off we went. Did I say we? I meant Siddha. I think it was my extra stiff suspension and air in my tires slowing me down but fuck, this asshole was wildin'. I had to get off-line to let him pass and pass he did. Fast as fuck. The last time he rode this trail, he had to walk most of it. I will adjust my suspension and be back for it bitch.
I started the day only for Siddha to tell me that it was his birthday. I checked my phone in the evening only for Siddha to tell me that it had been the best birthday of his life.
I fucked up the rest of the day. I procrastinated on schoolwork, which I had not touched for a week at that point, for like 3 hours, and then I did it. Major L. I learn from it though. Aaj, I attacked schoolwork. Half of it I’ve done. It is 12:30 and I’ve finished 75% percent of the work to be done today, after riding DH in the morning. Love the new routine. Love how Deep Work frees up so much of my time so I can do things I like, riding in the mornings and writing this for example. This routine is resulting in a re-calibration of my expectations of what can be achieved in a day and I am all for it.
I don’t want school to re-open, not because I’ll have to do work, but because getting ready for school and commuting is such a waste of time. Fortunately, the 12th syllabus will be completed in 2 weeks max, and then I can just not go except to ask for doubts. Street Mendu wada was destroyed. RIP Mendyu Wada and both Savio’s and Hitesh’s digestive systems.
We reached the trail to find out that the jump was broken:
This was not a satisfaction of curiosity. It was an intentional destruction of the jump. On Thursday, Sri sent us a picture with only one goni removed from the structure. That was curiosity or at least passed as a curiosity. Upon seeing that I calmly and rationally, gave up on this location for MTB as the gradient is not steep enough to be a natural trail. We took out stuff and left. We went to Hitesh’s place. Not having his parent’s home is rare and we leveraged that. The last time we spent time at McD was not worth the time, so I decided to experiment today. It was conscious. Once in a long while kinda thing.
We discussed various economic systems, and how Hitesh will go on about NZ and Canada’s economy but he wants to go to a country that can’t seem to keep a president and suffers from high inflation. We also discussed SB dunks Why so sad and the sneaker flipping business, which Hitesh and I are now partnering in. Hopefully, Hitesh’s card works this time, and hopefully, we don’t lose money.
We reached his house to know despite how much ever he shits on me for being privileged yet acting broke (I am), the asshole lives in a big house. His MTB has a whole room to itself. Match that. There we discussed KC’s competence (or lack thereof), and how the Kalyan DH MTB community is fragmented now, this year’s Rayate Race. We also find out that both Savio and I type at around 40wpm - the average, but Hitesh types at roughly 80 wpm, putting him in the top 5 percentile globally. He was glad to finally find something he’s better than me at - his words, not mine. I think Hitesh was disappointed I don’t take dates to Carter Road for a long romantic walk. But its safe to say he realizes reading poems to each other is more romantic,
Both Hitesh and I praised kindles and how shitty smartphones are for reading. Gave my kindle to Savio then, and throughout the train back home. Safe to say, he is a convert as well. Hitesh demands one more emotional paragraph. I will give you one line.
They asked me if I loved her to death. I said, “Speak of her over my grave and watch me come back to life.”
That’s all you get brother ;)
We left his place at 3. And had to get off the train back home and go back to Ulhasnagar station to get my laptop and cable that I then forgot at Hitesh’s. I amended some blog articles and spruced up the theme (link in bio). Tool the metro from Ghatkopar to Andheri. This must have saved me 15 mins due to the long lines for the ticket. Next time I will stick to using the train due to the greater amount of downtime in which I can work or read, despite the longer total time traveling. Also, the metro train has Bisleri and LIC, and vivo in front of the station names. That was surprising. Capitalism 100. Savio also told me people have missed their stops for all the corporate pre-fixes thinking their destination is different. That was interesting.
Overall, going to Hitesh’s place was not an experience or decision I regret, I would however know that ultimately, I value getting the extra sleep I get when I come home at 4 instead of 7, more than non-on-trail-socializing. As the Ambernath trail is basically no more for me, we’ve decided on riding at our old spot in Mainland Mumbai. It is close to me so that is great. We will also alternate to Kharghar, Panvel (@ and @ let us know), and monthly Pashan trips. Or at least, that is the plan. We go to Pashan on 13th Nov for a day trip. I met Siddha there. I read Efficiency by Wallstreet Playboys on our way to Ambernath Station. Savio , Siddha , and I took a rickshaw to Sri ’s shared location. This was for Prajwal , at the trailhead. After lots of confusion, we navigated our way to the place we borrow our tools from ever since they got stolen. This made for exhausting, but in hindsight, entertaining calls to Prajwal and his father. We initially asked him to come to the village, and just as he was about to leave the trailhead, a wild Sri appeared and said his location is correct - That location being given to him was intentional.
After all of us gathered on the trail, we found the jump broken. Not completely, but undid quite some work and LOTS of compacting. It seemed like authorities were curious as to the contents of this mound of soil and the sacks inside. We came to this conclusion also because they hadn’t destroyed the berms. Once they figured it was just that - a mound of soil. This was extremely demoralizing. Savio decided to rebuild it and hope for the best, hoping that their curiosity has been satisfied.
Savio refilled 2 sacks, then it was mud on top of the sacks. As usual, I dug and Savio “engineered” the jump - he decided the shape of the lip and landing and laid soil accordingly. Siddha, Sri, and Prajwal were dialing the S berm transition. In the process of digging, my mattock cracked. Because we were using borrowed tools, and I have a technique that uses few but powerful reps of digging that many deem inefficient, I stopped using it. We moved on to this tool, I don’t know what to call it. I hated it. I legit sat down on the soil and dug like that because standing and digging was… useless? My work rate reduced dramatically but so did the need for soil and I was comfortable sitting and digging.
By the time we were done, so was the transition. I did not try that out. But both Siddha and Prajwal thought it was sorted. The jump resembled our very first jump in Manori. The lip is not curved and does not throw you up. It forces you to learn to bunnyhop or learn the correct jumping technique. I don’t particularly enjoy it, but it will teach the tribe to jump, and we can move to bigger and better things soon. Delayed Gratification. Speaking of, bigger things. Next week, step down. This one will mostly be focused on height. I don’t know actually, haven’t built a step down before. advise in the comments. We are using an existing rock and downslope, smart work bete.
To note, Savio does not like songs playing when building. Cue Savio comparing the building process to meditation. He actually hasn’t said that, but I imagine he may. We walked to give the tools back. We mentioned to the owner that a mattock has a crack. He seemed to not be bothered by it because he mostly does not have a lot of digging to do so asked us to bring a new rod if we’ll need it next week or not worry about it. Then Hitesh called - he had a late work night and couldn’t join us in the morning. Kashish was busy with ghar ka Diwali preparation.
He asked if we wanted to go to McDonalds. We thought the building would take the whole day and were surprised to have finished it early and so obliged. This was a mistake, on my part. The McD trip did not have a significant value add. It was not worth the hour or 90 mins we spent there. No significant entertainment bonding or memories. Should’ve been to the station directly. Also, neither Savio nor Siddha knows how much honey to put on pancakes. Siddha got them. Bhai, ready-made mix? Come on. I did give Hitesh ‘The Choice’ which is a Holocaust survivor’s autobiography.
On our way back, they chose to go to the second class coach and me to the first class. As soon as it started moving, I remembered the asshole at Dadar station. He has caught me twice for not having a ticket. I got off at the next station and asked Siddha to “come out”. That was the wrong verbiage, I should have asked him to lean out so I can join them. Both of them thought I was caught and just got off the train. Cue 30 mins of waiting for the next one because there was too much gardi on the train that came next.
Siddha and I took a slow train from Andheri because a certain special snowflake needed to be dropped. I don’t blame though, this was his first time using the train independently. I understand his predicament. Savio helped me when I was ignorant. He is a big reason I am competent enough to cheat the railway system, and for that, for him, I am grateful.
Raat ko, my father smoked in the main bedroom, which did not clear despite waiting for 30 mins. When the other room’s AC did not work, I felt extremely frustrated. I was also feeling sad because it was finally hitting me that I won’t see people I value for a long time when I leave for further study, among other more intimate things. This was at 8:30pm.
So I took ghar ka chaavi from Mother and went to Arya ’s. He welcomed me. The asshole knew something was up as soon I asked him if I can sleep at his. We spoke and cried. I journaled a lot and cried a lot. Enough to make Arya cry, which I consider an achievement. My journalling then and today (I write this on Monday, the day after) has been weirdly productive in changing my perspective from sadness-inducing to forward-looking optimism. Arya is precious. Best bhai. Bohot pyaar <3. I must have slept at 10. I woke up at 8/8:30 am aaj. Kya sexy neend. The fact that I can actually have good sleep at his house shows just how much of a second house Arya’s place is for me. On bullshit. Social media, YouTube, bullshit tasks, etc. Commuting. Commuting has been a big one. I don’t go to school right now because of the Diwali break and it saves so much time. When I do have to go to school, I ride so that comes in as training time. Additionally, I use it as diffused thinking time, so half of the time, I am holding my phone to my mouth to voice record my ideas, and I am riding hands-free. I love that I have that habit now and that I am over time, turning into a creator rather than a consumer. I’ve liked her on and off for a long time now.
I don’t like her right now, but mainly because I don’t allow myself to. I can easily. Either, I’ve gotten to the point where I’m used to the feeling, or it has faded.
Let me rephrase. I like her. I am not infatuated with her. Everything is not rosy because I like her. I like her in the most “She’d be a good partner” typa way. I have been infatuated with her, but that ended soon after I asked her out and she said no.
She is my one-itis. I have asked her out and she has declined. We’ve maintained our friendship. We’re really close friends.
I still want to date her. I’d be happy to do so due to the emotional connection we have, due to our conversations - the amount of unfiltered the both of us get. Also, she pretty.
Now let me be clear, I am well aware of her flaws. And the possible frictions that would arise when we date. I do put her on a pedestal. They’re something she’s working on. In addition, we’ll work on them when we’re dating.
And it’s not that I obsess over her 24/7. I am open to dating others, as long as they meet my (extremely) high standards, as long as there is potential for a long-term relationship; To put it bluntly, if she has the potential to be the mother of my children. I have insane ambitions and little time to waste.
Now, she has declined in the past. She was also not single. She is now. She knows that I look forward to dating her and that dating her is now part of my ambition.
For some time I thought she was quite masculine, especially because of her work and competence.
For those who are unaware
A masculine person is one who focuses on their work, their mission, and search for freedom, above all else. A feminine person is one who values love and feeling it above all else. This is according to The Way Of The Superior Man by David Deida
But I’ve seen her with her ex. Let’s just say, she can be VERY feminine, and that is incredibly attractive.
Here is my predicament: There are some standards she does not meet. There are some things I’m iffy about. I still want to date her. I wouldn’t want to date her if I’d met her recently. So do I truly like her for her? or because she rejected me and there is ambition there, merely a “trophy'?
No, I think I know.
As I typed this I realized that I AM open to dating others. I’d be open to dating her as well. It’s just the then depth of the emotional connection would be difficult to develop in a short time. But I think the emotional connection makes up for it. They’re things we can openly talk about. The both of us can discuss my concerns before committing long-term.
I’ll make sure of it. I know myself. I am not very worried about making the wrong decision here. I journal way too much to do so. Both of us speak the raw truth way too much.
And the worst-case scenario is that I date her, and realize that there isn’t long-term potential there. Or I get to NZ and realize that there are others that I’d like to date instead.
It’s 1stman’s male advantage in my head as well. As I level up, I will have access to better and better women. So a rational man would eventually have to call it quits because of the quality of women available after a year or 2 or further self-improvement.
I know the both of us will speak about it and come to a conclusion before we commit.
Oh also, in case you’re reading this:
Good evening m’lady
Good day to you (the reader) as well bro.
Now, I just have to become man enough to incite her femininity. To be a viable sexual partner. It is all on me. That drives me. It really does.
Fuck, I did not intend on writing this when I sat on the shitter, but here we are. Additionally, if I ate at home, I’d be hungry by the time we’d start building. We then stopped at a bunch of shops to buy spoons. Gonis as well, which we forgot to take from Kashish. Little did I know, finding someone willing to sell something other than a small wooden ice cream spoon, that would turn eating into torture, took longer than buying gonis from MULTIPLE shops, might I add.
Goni means sack. Ambuja cement aur chawal wala.
When we reached the trail,
where we found our tools were stolen, only because of our incompetence. SOMEONE (Hitesh or Satish ) thought it was a safe idea to leave the tools near the trails despite them being stolen at Rayate hitherto.
We walked for a long time to borrow tools from the locals which was tiring. One of the two fawdas (shovels) was made out of bamboo. It was light and solid. It is a pleasure building with that.
We then started building the 1st jump - a 1-bike-length tabletop. We got tired midway due to the morning walk. Only putting the mud on top of the goni-structure was left. Hitesh left to help out his friend plan a surprise, we (not really) missed his moral support. Oh also, at the time of writing this, we recently found out his shoulder has a minor fracture. A month after the crack he went to the doctor. What a chut. We toiled through the rest of the build. I was exhausted enough to set 15 min intervals and 5 min breaks to focus on the act of building and focus due to the deadline an interval gives. Parkinson’s law in action.
During this, there was a lot of Hitesh whining, Uni discussion with Hitesh loving my email ID, reading my CV, and me reading his Essay and Personal statement.
We then discussed again my CV and how it is a 2 pager. He provided valuable feedback (thanks babe). The conversation then turned to expensive rich kid schools and how the curriculum is different there and the kinds of opportunities privilege provides.
I was also… teased? about my last paragraph in my previous post asking my friends to linger at the doorstep and forget their scarf in my life, and how “bhai aise bolega toh bandi aaraam se pategi''. Bhai log, mature thhoda emotionally, bandi ki tension nahi hogi fir. Become formidable and you will have more pussy than you know what to do with.
I was tired enough and now have enough crash experience to know I was not in a state to attempt the jump on a bike I am unfamiliar with. So I did not, we then proceeded to the base of the hill and around the same time when Hitesh got back. Ooh, Hitesh spent 20 mins being indecisive about when to leave for surprise planning. That was entertaining
Hitesh, Savio, Sri, his bike, and I went to Sri’s place. There he showed us his audio engineering projects at Hitesh’s request.
We proceeded to watch VR porn. Turns out most of the stuff is paid. We had 2 90 sec samples. Their experiences have been captured for your vicarious pleasure. Unfortunately, no one recorded my reaction :(
Regardless, it is not as immersive as I thought it would be. This is most likely due to the disconnect of watching what would presumably be my body fucking this chick but feeling nothing, not hip thrusting. But that is a problem that can be extended to all kinds of porn. Overall, meh experience. Also, I have realized I no longer enjoy porn, of any kind. The Hamza and the romantic in me won’t allow me to, even if I did. Hitesh subsequently left.
Then he showed us his blender projects, more song stuff, and video projects. That took a long while. We then played for roughly 15 mins each of a VR game called The Lab for. The Bow and Arrow sub-game was fun. However, I will now restrict myself to a boxing/ping pong game for the experience and won’t continue, for long-term dopamine detox purposes. It fucks with my ability to do difficult things, due to the hedonic treadmill.
We left by 9pm. I write this on the train at 10 (editing on 19th Oct 2022) as I sit in first class coach. Meanwhile, Savio sits in second because he is an imaandaar man.
Kal Sunday ko no ride, mujhe sona hai. We have to thicken the top layer of soil next week, 1.5BL jump, and a pair of berms. I have realized my schoolmates read this as well. For you: berms are banked turns. Riding them correctly enables one to maintain speed in a corner. This is fun, and a skill, which is why we build them.
I feel like I write the best when I’m hungry and tired - no inhibitions.
A lot of struggle, and a lot of work to come in the years ahead. We have a uniform but most don’t wear it.
I started wearing a flower in my ear. My teachers fond it amusing. Other teachers who did not know me found it annuying. They asked me to remove it, I asked for a reason and they said “I don’t like it” , I told them that I’m okay with that. They complained to authorty. This is the first time a teacher pussied out like that/
I was called into a authority’s cabin and asked to not wear it. I did not after that. But the logic did not make sense to me, and acting in misalignment with my values was bothering me, so after talking to Vihaan, I decided to follow protocol and present my argument to the school the right way.
Here’s the argument:
Premise: Vihaan is arguing against me, as JBCN, to strengthen my argument when I present it to you.
I have now decided to share the conversation with you, editing to make the argument more coherent and more formal.
Vihaan: You cannot wear that flower in school. We have a uniform and that flower-wearing goes against our rules.
Ilyaas Kapadia: Your rules include tattoos, phones, and hair color. Why is the flower an issue? You compliment me when I wear formal. Blue color. Black. White. You don’t ask me to wear the uniform. You ask me to wear the uniform when I come in a t-shirt and tracks. Your enforcement is subjective.
Vihaan: Tattoos and hair color cannot be removed. Fundamentally, we can’t change aspects of you that bleed into your life outside this school. The flower is very much something you can remove. You can choose not to wear it, which you aren’t doing, even though we request it.
Ilyaas: Untrue. This is the case for A levels. 10th grade is strictly not allowed hair color regardless of life outside school.
Vihaan: So what? We have different rules for younger grades because we believe they aren’t mature enough to make decisions for themselves. We allow you certain luxuries, but we’re perfectly at liberty to draw boundaries on them or revoke them when we feel the need.
Ilyaas: So a decision to damage my hair or skin is okay with you? But wearing a flower is not? Why is it not okay? Why not allow this luxury?
Vihaan: Honestly, we’re not okay with it. But there’s no logical reason for us to complain about it once it’s done. The changes are permanent and cannot be removed. Even if we keep going on about it, there’s nothing to be achieved. Plus, we’ve noticed that a lot of children wear hair colors and get tattoos. Were exposed to it enough to be desensitized to it. It’s normal now and even if it’s against the rules, it’s easier to ignore. The flower is unusual. It attracts our attention and influences younger students too. So it needs to go because we aren’t yet used to it.
Ilyaas: You won’t allow it on the last day of the 10th. You will allow it on the first day of AS. What miracles occur in the 1 month in between?
Vihaan: We do so because we have to standardize. Nothing changes in a day, but contractually, the 10th grade isn’t AS levels.
Ilyaas: My whole argument is that it is not problematic at all. Does not impact my ability to score at all. This is why it is not problematic if the 10th grade does it.
Vihaan: You could keep using the same argument 365 times to argue a 9th grader should have the same privileges as an 11th grader.
Ilyaas: They should. Grade does not matter. Misuse of privileges does. Which can be made very transparent. You’re allowed to bring your phone tomorrow onwards - if you are caught gaming, you will not be allowed to bring it for the next week. Give incentives. They work.
Vihaan: Schools have good reason to maintain uniformity. We have students of all income groups, and we live in a country with a wide socioeconomic disparity. We want all our students to look the same because if we don’t enforce that, their class gaps might become extremely apparent. How would a 5th grader react if he saw another of his classmates wearing a gold chain, while he doesn’t even have the money for fresh books? It causes division. Maybe even bullying. Which is a problem rampant in American “liberal” school systems.
Ilyaas: Was this the case when you allowed normal clothes and phones during the pandemic? If yes, what consequences? Phones were confiscated due to misuse, but I heard nothing of class-based discrimination, partly due to your great success in teaching children to not discriminate against them. Additionally, American schools are publicly funded - they’re free. Private schools, like JBCN, don’t seem to have this issue.
Vihaan (with respect to this argument): First of all, we assume you have a good reason for doing so. Maybe a function or a formal event in school. We can’t really tell.
Ilyaas: You know for a fact there isn’t an event. I wear them every day.
Vihaan: We’re okay with them. You look good, you look formal and presentable. It’s a net positive change in a person we’ve only ever known to flout rules and look like a gangster.
Ilyaas: So, what I hear is, since you sell the A Levels school hoodie now, that is more acceptable than me wearing a flower?
Vihaan: Yes. At the end of the day, we don’t need to justify anything to you. We have our rules. You choose to come to this school voluntarily, having agreed to follow its rules and you need to follow them. We can set up our boundaries where we see fit. One deviation does not equal another.
Ilyaas: Fair enough. I lost. You hold great leverage over me. Ultimately, if you threaten to take my exam seat away, I will comply. I won’t wear the flower if that is the consequence. I do come here voluntarily. You have taught me to question everything. It was a poster near one of the labs for 2 years. This is something I am questioning because it does not make sense to me. My peers and even didis love my flower. Some teachers find it irritating, while some like it. I see cognitive dissonance in your rules and staff and I have pointed it out to you. I have thought from first principles and laid out my argument. Socrates was once imprisoned for “corrupting the youth”. All I ask is you give genuine thought to what I have said to you. I only hope you do not disregard it because it has come from me, whatever negative qualities I may be perceived to have, or how unfamiliar my argument may seem. I am only doing what you have taught me to do: question everything. I rest my case here and will take your word as final. I would be more than happy to wait for a verdict, so you can think it over. Till then, I won’t wear it with respect to your previous requests.
It did not work. 3 weeks and no answer. I am glad I did this, but it is full rebel now onwards.

https://ilyaas.netlify.app/posts/flower-argument/
I am in A2 now. The 3rd parent contibutes Mitochondrial DNA.
You cannot resist tech to healing. Upgrading’s proposition is irresistible.
The more we know, the less we can predict. Everybody exploits the knowledge, outdating it. Eg. Karl Marx predicting fall of capitalism ensured its survival.
Knowledge that cannot be acted upon is useless. Knowledge that does chage behavoir is quickly rendered obsolete.
The pasted is studied not to perpetuate it, but rather to be liberated from it.
“The relationship between humans and animals may beth ebest model we have for future relations between humans and superhumans.” What about white masters and colored slaves?
  Chapter 2: The Anthropocene
Eve means female snake.
Snakes are not our enemies but our ancestors. - the Eve Myth
The Bible was a by-product of the agricultural revolutions, where new animal-human relations emerged.
Today more than 90% of all large mammals are domesticated.
Domesticated species pay for their unparalleled collective success with unprecedented individual suffering
Creatured in the modern day have inherited traits from their encestors that are redundant now. Humans - love for sugar, cattle, poultry - emotional needs.
Emotions are biochemical algorithms, which are common to all mammals.
Habits are algorithms on autopilot
Sensations and emotions are desires
Sexual attraction is an algorithm that ensures successful offspring.
All mammals share the mother-infant bond. It is vital for offspring’s survival.
Mamma is Latin for breast.
Cater to your children’s emotional needs.
The meat and dairy industries break the most fundamental mammal bond, the mother-infant bond.
Farmers justified exploitation of domesticated animals by inventing new theist religions.
The agricultural deal: God will supply rain, crop and wine in return for sacrifices. This silenced all non human entities, crushing Animism.
  Chapter 3: The Human Spark
Evolution is incapable of producing everlasting entities such as souls.
The mind is a flow of subjective expriences, such as love anger and pain.
The better we understand neurobiology, the more difficult it become to explain concious feelings.
Experience of pain is a tangible reality
Probablistically, we are living in a simulation.
BY humanising animals we undermine their unique abilities, and intelligence.
Species-wide intelligence = flexibility/compromise + large-scale cooperation
Bonobos use sex to cement social bonds. We could learn something from them.
Humans are irrational economic agents.
Inter-subjective realities enable large scale cooperation generating supreme species
Turbans and beards are a way of saying, ‘you can trust me, I believe the same story as you.’
Religion is inter-subjective, a self-perpetuating loop.
A lack of imagination disables animals to stand up to the human bourgeoisie
What differ North Korea and south Korea are their different fictions.
Part 2: Homo Sapiens Gives Meaning to the World
  Chapter 4: The Storytellers
Triple-layered reality: objective, subjective, inter-subjective
Gods were inter-subjective entities that gained power, wealth and properties, just like corporations.
Writing and money enable mass taxation.
The essence of bureaucracy is each person being a small cog in a huge gearbox - specialization
Inaccurate descriptions produce rebellions, so holy scriptures have gotten more precise over time. Until, the religion gets too powerful and begin to bend reality to its descriptions.
School shifted from true understanding to marks.
True Entity “Can it suffer?” If not, not true entity.
  Chapter 5: The Odd Couple
“God helps those who help themselves” Meaning: God does not exist, the placebo only inspires people - it helps.
You don’t derive your values from your religion.
Religion is created by humans, not gods. “Religion is not measures by deities, but its social function. This is the the adopted currently as it is more politically correct (The left cannot admit actual differences between the races) But modern human populations DNA contains DNA of Neanderthals and Denisovans. Compensation for larger, more energy hungry brains are more hunting and atrophied muscles.
Human kind started to walk upright, paid for unparalleled vision and insane dexterity with backaches and stiff necks. Women suffered furthermore, walking upright called for narrower hips, constricting the birth canal, just when heads were getting bigger. As a result, they started giving birth, earlier when heads were smaller (natural selection).
“It takes a tribe to raise a human”
The domestication of fire helped enabled us to stumble upon cooking, allowing Sapiens and Neanderthals to shorten their intestines, decreases the Thermic Effect Of Food (TEF), allowing for more fuel to reach our massive brain more efficiently.
Chapter 2
Theory: Accidental Genetic mutations caused Sapiens' enhanced cognitive ability.
Language decreased the bandwidth limitation from “Careful!Lion!” to gossiping in extraordinary detail. Which contributes to enhanced large scale cooperation. Language was likely mainly used and is to this day used for gossiping.
Our language is unique in its ability to convey abstraction and fiction.
ONLY NOTES I HAVE TAKEN IN PENCIL:
A company is a legal entity, so is Peugot
Luck/chance + Natural selection = Slow evolution
Goodc climate + constant food = settle down
Has the industrial revolution slowed evolution down by enabling the spread of unremarkable genes?
Forager economy had people doing more interesting work than agriculture. Less fulfilment for more pleasure? no, multi-factorial, eg, comfort
Efficiency comes at the cost of fragility.
Why dont people move? 1.Comfort 2. Sunken Cost Fallacy
Forager times - More =ve, more -ve, less baseline
Was pre-historic infanticide common?
During the hunter-gatherer era polygamy reigned supreme.
Learn to connect dots.
Animism (from “anima”, or ‘soul’ or ‘spirit’ in Latin) is he belief taht almost every place, every animal, every plant and every natural phenomenon has awareness and feeling and can communicate directly with humans. So literal personification?
Are hindus animist towards oak trees?
Modern day foragers (uncontacted tribes) can be matched for/ extrapolated from their ancient counterparts. Multiple variables (modern day authorities preventing large scale battles) come into play.
Pre-history may have been filled with comtemporary wars and peace at different locations on earth.
Humanity’s ability to manipulate our environment and think in the future sets us apart. take advantage of this. Manipulate your environment to form desirable habits.
Sapiens’skill to build and steer boats enabled them to migrate to Australia. Develop skills, they will compound and pay off, eventually.
Pehle: Top of food chain
Abhi: Top of dominance heirarchy
Mammoths bred slowly (long pregnancies and few offspring) and were unable to develop a fear of human beings (we don’t look deadly) and thus were hunted to extinction. We also changed their climate. Attacked them from multiple angles. Be a silent killer, with multiple strategies. The underdog, so to speak.
Why did humans venture to a freezing Siberia? From what we know: Animal protein, which could even be frozen for later consumption.
We have trashed several ecosystems and killed many species to extinction. Will we do the same with the Earth?
  First Wave (of extinction)
Humans went to America. Fucked it up: hunter almost everything out of existence. Borke food chain. Then went to Australia, then New Zealand and did the same.
Madagascar and Galepegos faced simiar destinies - Cognitive Revolution
Second Wave (of extinction) : Farming
Thrid Wave (of extinction): industrialization, pollution. This time, killing sea creatures.
We might one day drive planetary extinction.
We rose to the top of the food chain by changing our environment or adapting to it. We can impact our surroundings massively. Use that ability:
Kill silently Learn skills Manipulate your environment for the best outcomes Part Two:
IQ is largely genetic and unchanging, even today.
The avg farmer worked harder than the avg forager and recieved a worse diet in return. Wheat and roce have domesticated us, not the other way around.
We are programmed to be a part of a group.
Wheat enabled humans to produce more food per unit of territory and thus, grow exponentially.
Humans observed what occured by chance and replicated what produced favourable outcomes. Eg. Selective breeding: Exploiting natural selection for favourable outcomes
Child Mortality, a snapshot of country’s degree of development (factufulness) was lower in farmer than in foragers.
Do something, analyze, dont dwell.
Write deliberate detailed messages with options/instructions for an answer to save time.
The shit people do for faith. Insane. Paradoxically, I understand going against rational odds.
Chicken won evolution but sacrificed quality of life. Happiness>Evolutionary success
Power of faith and belief systems is underestimated.
Agriculture is the embodiment of sacrificing the present for the future.
take advantage of massive events, you cunning capitalist.
The 3 Cs of friendship: Communication, Cooperation, Copulation
Imagined order and myths are intersubjective, they on work when multiple people believe them.
Romanticism, encourages variety goes will with consumerism. Thus is born the tourism industry, which sells experiences.
“A single priest does the work of a 100 soldiers far more cheaply and effectively”
cooperation is not always voluntary.
the ability to look into the future was a curse for farmer because they could do something about it.
agricultural revolution made us selfish, our territory to my house.
chapter 7:
Use a second brain - Notion, some kind of organizational system
Document ehat is happening
Human brains come eqipped with a large database of nature - river, fruits, vegetables etc, difficult to replicat in AI. This is an issue in the robotics world.
Writing is a data-processing system furst invented by Sumerians.
Make data input intantaneous - Neralink
Brain —>Free associations
Bureaucracy - rigid file cabinet system
Math - the language of computers
Animals have laws and function in heirarchies coded into the genome.
Problem with brain: Limited capacity, Only remembers survival related data, Transfer bandwidth too low. Brain is a compression decompression device - Elon Musk
decriminalisation is not equal to legalization
“Biology enables, culture forbids”
Culture is a group of artificial instincts cuased by regional imagined orders.
A culture’s values are constantly changing
every man-made order is packed with internal contradictions.
A culture tries to amend its contradictions and chnages itself in doing so.
Pehle: christianity vs chivalry. Now: liberty vs equality
Contradictory beliefs are called cognitive dissonance
Multiple small cultures merge into more complex giant ones.
There are no influence free cultures left on earth.
In the first century AD 3 things brought us together
Money King/imperial order/law Religion Chapter 10: The Scent Of Money
Pehle: Favours and obligation
Then: barley - biological value, but difficult to store and transport
then: silver - no value - pure imagned value, but had to be wieghed
then: silver coins - all good - mutual trust - value of silver/gold in more regions when trade occurs. Equal weight and stampage reinforces its value
90% world the world’s money is 1s and 0s - bits in banks
  Chapter 11: Imperial Visions
“An Empire that cannot sustain a blow and remain stamding is not really an empire.”
Empire qualifications: 1. Rule 3 to 30 nations. 2. Non-concrete bodies 3. Hunger for expansion
Bigger the empire, more similar the culture - some degree of ethnic cleansing;standardisation
It will take 2500 years to form a truly global empire.
If empire falls, order falls, chaos ensues. New empire emerges eg. Hindustan
Kings not only funded armies but art too, eg. Mozart’s commissions
Kings generally look after their subject’s welfare
More imperialism, bigger the cultural meting pot.
We are a product of previous empires, eg, English, chai
Next empire: global, more people are rejecting nationalism and adopting humanity.
Chapter 12: The Law Of Religion
The rise of monotheism raised the value of Gods and Humankind and crushed Animism.
Polytheism: The Omnipotent God is devoid of interests and biases. Therefore men can only deal with partial gods who have biases and interests, such as Ganesha, Laxmi and Saraswati.
The potential for evil in the world is more noticeable than evil itself.
Syncretism: Believing in the Monotheist God, Dualist Devil, Polytheist Saints, Animist ghosts.
Stoicism is a religion.
Superhuman (Theory of Relativity) is not equal to Supernatural (Vampires). Religion is a part of both.
Chapter 13: The Secret Of Success
The Hindsight Fallacy: (Like Duning Kruger Effect) The more you know a historical period the harder it is to explain events and their consequence. The more superficial your knowledge the easir it is to explain it becuase your rely on hindsight heavily. don’t fall for this.
A predictable revolution never erupts.
We study history not to make accurate predictions of the future, but to recognize the width of possible outcomes.
Memes are cultural information units
Cultures are mental parasites that emerge accidentally, and thereafter take advantage of all people infected by them.
More competition, higher the skill for the same rank
“People who make history take unexpected turns.”
Why? : Causation
How? : Process or journey to outcome
Outcomes of history, eg, liberalism are a coincidence as far as we can tell.
  Part 4: The Scientific Revolution
Chapter 14: The Discovery Of Ignorance
Power, Resources and research form a feedback loop, the Scientific Revolution’s feedback loop.
Scientific Revolution is the revolution of ignorance
Sociopolitical order is largely non scientific: Declaring a Contrarian scientific practice/theory the final and absolute truth (Communism or Nazism) or Living in accordance with a non- scientific truth (Liberal Humanism the the belief in the unique worth and rights of human beings)
Set aside money for research - in athletics - training, recovery, nutrition.
Try New Shit: unpowder was an accident, and was used for fireworks for 600 years therafter before being adopted for cannons.
Major leaps in 100 years:
Population - 14x Product - 240x Energy - 115x Math enabled invention of statistics which then enabled insurance.
Research is funded due to non-scientific interests such as profit or politics
Bible: Poverty is part of society
Modernity: Eradicating Biological Poverty
Goal of doctors/healthcare industry = immortality.
Chapter 15: The Marriage of Science and Empire
Science is fuelled by economics
Superpowers can be defeated if the local struggle becomes a global cause. Make your struggle a global cause. Show your work. Claim your ignorance.
Capitalism —> Inperialism —> Science
Be careful of invaders
Persian and sanskrit evolved from the same language, What we noe call “The Indo-European language”
Why Europe? Asia lacked the imagined realities and sociopolitical order of Europe.
  Chapter 16: The Capitalist Creed
Capitalism created trust in growth, in a better future, giving rise to credit
Free market can result in, interalia, slavery opium addiction
Early history - No credit - economy was frozenand remained so until credit became popular.
Feedback loop: More Credit —>More business —> More profit —> more lending
Businesses create jobs
BANKS ARE GENIUS
I earn, i pay you, you buy my product, I earn - feedback loop
More invention, more tech, more economic growth, higher standard of living.
Give loans, don’t take them.
Government’s job is to ensure fairness in the market
Monopoly causes death of competition and unfair wealth distribution.
Chaper 17: The Wheels of Industry
Jumping pot lids silently showed humanity the power on converting energy. Humans did not realize this for a long time
“The only limit is set by our ignorance”
Industrial Revolution = Second Agricultural Revolution? Agriculture was largely mechanised. fertiliser was invented, poultry and cattle farming came into picture.
Killing imperfect chicken is fuelled by indifference not hatred. I feel like indifference is the opposite of love.
Children need an emotional bond.
More energy used, more innovation to harvest energy, more energy available, feedback loop.
Pehle: Sun —> Plant —> Muscle
We consume 90 mins of energy sun gives to the Earth’s surface. Better Energy harvesting protocols needed.
Pehle 90% farms, now 2%
Obesity is good for the economy: buy food AND diet products
  Chapter 18: A Permanent Revolution
Public tranportation was crucial in the mass adoption of Precise timetables.
Previously, family was the most important unit. Thus, welfare systems did not exist.
Most Empires were little more than protection rackets.
Empires broke the forces of family and community via individualism. Cannot refuse individualism.
Individualism has now rendered women not the property of their family
Individuals may be exploited by markets, or prosecute them, yet individualism stands too compelling.
Individualism and our deep need of tribal bonds have given rise to Imagined communities: A community in which members do not know each but think they do. Usually have a common interest that unites them, eg, MTBers.
Real peace is not the mere absence of war. Real peace is the implausibility of war.
Nulclear weapons have turned war into collective suicide, killing domination by force of arms. War is no longer profitable.
Industrial revolution enabled specialization and division of labour
Economy of favours to free market
Chapter 19: They Lived Happily Ever After
Expect nothing, appreciate everything, have a good marriage = happiness formula
Happiness is looking back at a meaningful life.
“If you have a why, can bear almost any how”
Buddhism —> Stop craving Pleasure —> Happiness (In line with my food habits)
Happy hormones —>oxytocin (wifi hormone), dopamine, serotonin
Pleasure is not equal to happiness
more choice results in lower commitment
expectation is MASSIVe in serotonin release
Natiral selection uses happy hormones to get us to reproduce.
Bliss is not equal to happiness
Biologically, life is meaningless
Any meaning associated to evolution is meaningless.
Happiness is mutating, society’s delusion is my delusion.
Chapter 20: The End Of Homo Sapiens
Pehle: Natural selection
Now: Intelligent design
Shit (E. coli) can now be genetically engineered to produce biofuel or insulin
Geneteic engineering may turn Homo Sapiens to something else altogether - A Second Cognitive Revolution?
Patents on DNA Sequences?
Emotional singularity - Nirvana?
The real question facing us is not “what do we want to become?”, but " What do we want to want?"
  Glossary:
coalesce :come together to form one mass or whole; gather
inclement: (of the weather) unpleasantly cold or wet.
salient: most noticeable or important
vociferously: in a loud and forceful manner.
chimeras: A chimera is essentially a single organism that’s made up of cells from two or more “individuals”—that is, it contains two sets of DNA, with the code to make two separate organisms.
